The short version
DQ200 is widely known as a lower-torque 7-speed dry-clutch DSG. DQ250 is a 6-speed wet-clutch DSG. DQ381 is a later 7-speed wet-clutch DSG used across many MQB applications, while DQ500 is a higher-capacity 7-speed wet-clutch transmission used in selected performance and commercial vehicles.
Why the distinction matters
Fluid service requirements, clutch construction, mechatronic design and repair parts differ. “A DSG service” is therefore not one universal job. Correct gearbox identification protects against the wrong fluid, wrong filter or wrong repair assumption.
