There is no single DSG service interval
Service requirements vary by gearbox family, model, model year and market. Some wet-clutch DSG transmissions have scheduled oil and filter maintenance; dry-clutch designs have different requirements. Manufacturer information for the exact transmission should be checked rather than applying a blanket interval to every DSG.
Why fluid matters on wet-clutch DSGs
On wet-clutch units, transmission fluid is part of clutch cooling, lubrication and hydraulic operation. Fluid condition, correct specification and level-setting procedure matter. Using a generic automatic transmission fluid is not appropriate.
What if the history is unknown?
We first identify the transmission, check for leaks and faults and then recommend the applicable maintenance. If the vehicle already has a shift-quality concern, servicing may be sensible maintenance but should not be presented as a guaranteed repair for a pre-existing clutch or mechatronic fault.
